Campsite Reservations Accepted for Solar Eclipse Weekend

Campsite Reservations Accepted for Solar Eclipse Weekend

Limited to August 18-20, 2017, due to Solar Eclipse

On Monday, May 1, the Nemaha NRD began accepting reservations from campers wishing to stay at either Kirkman’s Cove or Iron Horse Trail Lake on the weekend prior to the August 21 solar eclipse. Though all electrical hookups are now reserved at both parks, non-electrical pads are still available. This is the only weekend when reservations will be offered for either the electrical RV camping spots or the non-electrical RV spots at these two parks. Because the path of the eclipse lines up with the two areas, NRD officials are anticipating heavier than normal interest in the camping areas.

Details about the reservation system are as follows:

  • All reservations must be made by telephone (402-335-3325) or in person and must be confirmed with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.
  • Reservations may be made during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. CDT).
  • Reservations are only accepted for a minimum, three night stay from August 18-20, 2017 (no one- or two-day reservations accepted).
  • Non-electrical pads are available for $24 for the three nights. This fee includes a non-refundable, $15 reservation fee. (Tent camping will remain first-come, first served.)
  • All reservations are non-transferrable and are limited to a maximum of two campsites per reservation.
  • Information required includes name, address, daytime phone, email address, and physical description of the camper including license number.
  • Cancellations must be made in writing or in person; refunds may be provided depending on the date of cancellation, but a cancellation fee will apply.

NNRD vehicle entry permits are also required for this weekend; annual permits may be purchased online with your credit card or by printing the application from this site and mailing or delivering it to the NRD office with your check or money order. Temporary, 2-day permits are available for purchase at the parks.
