Return to Board Meeting Updates
| Nemaha NRD Nov.
2009 Board Meeting Report Tecumseh – Nemaha Natural Resources District directors enjoyed an abbreviated agenda at their regular meeting Thursday, November 12. With only one committee meeting this month, the five topics were covered in short order. Items requiring board action included a resolution to submit a request to the state of Nebraska Small Watershed Fund for reimbursement of a portion of the land rights costs incurred with the Buck Creek Watershed project. The request will allow the District to recoup about $70,000 of the costs for easements involved with this flood control dam to be built near Peru next year. The board also reviewed and approved the audit report for FY 2009 prepared by Art White & Associates. The audit indicated that the financial statements fairly present the financial position of the District as of June 30, 2009; and no deficiencies or compliance issues were identified. In order to complete requirements for a Corps of Engineers 404 permit, the board authorized staff to hire a consultant if needed to assist with the application. This permit is required to allow construction of a road dam southeast of Johnson in the Muddy Creek Watershed. With so many large projects underway this fiscal year, the board discussed the possibility that a line of credit will be needed to facilitate cash flow while awaiting grant reimbursements. Staff will acquire information on amount, length, and interest rates to present at the December board meeting. Orval Gigstad, Syracuse, and Paul Weber, Firth, were appointed to serve as a nominating committee to assemble a slate of candidates for board officer elections in January. The next regular meeting of the Nemaha NRD board will be Thursday, December 10, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Committee meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. Agenda item requests must be submitted no later than 4:30 p.m. on the day before the meeting. |
