Time to Order Trees Is Now

Time to Order Trees Is Now

We’ve already experienced one bout of winter-like weather this fall, which is a good reminder that you might need a new windbreak. A few rows of well-placed trees can make a big difference in heating bills this winter or provide cooling shade on hot summer days.

Seedling sales from the Nemaha Natural Resources District begin every year on November 1. All trees and shrubs ordered this fall will be available next spring, and orders are only accepted through March 1. The NRD also provides a planting service for orders of 200 or more, but you need to contact us by December 1; and your ground must be prepped in the fall.

This year the Nemaha NRD is offering seven different conifers, nine deciduous, and twelve shrub species. Regardless of your choice, orders must be placed in lots of 25/species. The cost for any species is just $1.20 per tree plus state and local sales tax at the point of delivery. Payment for trees is required at the time your order is placed. Placing your order early will help ensure the species you desire are available.

To place an order or for more information, contact the Nemaha NRD in Tecumseh at (402) 335-3325; or check the Programs page (click on Conservation to find the Conservation Tree Program section) for a full list of species available.
