5 miles northwest of Peru, Nebraska (2 miles east of Hwy 75 on 736 Road)

Opened in the spring of 2018, Duck Creek Recreation Area is the District’s fifth public recreation area featuring a 62-acre lake approximately 5 miles northwest of Peru, Nebraska, in Nemaha County. The park encompasses about 200 acres.

Things You Should Know

  • May-September, NRD staff test water at the swimming beach for presence of toxic algae; test results are available on the Nebraska Department of Environment & Energy's website, this website, and social media. Tests above 8 ppb require a health alert in effect until the water tests below this limit.
  • No hunting or possession of firearms allowed
  • No live baitfish allowed.
  • Fireworks are not allowed.
  • Jumping/diving from the county road bridge into the lake is neither advised nor allowed.

62-acre stocked lake (Nebraska Game & Parks Fish Stocking Reports) ** No live baitfish is allowed; 21" minimum size limit applies for largemouth bass

  • Only RVs/campers allowed on campsites; must be attended (see rules for more information)
  • No dump station or water hookups
