Opened in 1996 as part of the South Branch Watershed flood control project, this 89-acre park is five miles north and 1 mile west of Tecumseh, Nebraska, in Johnson County. This park was named for brothers John, Paul, & Anton Wirth from Nebraska City who donated their land and many of the improvements for use as a public recreation area.

Things You Should Know

  • NNRD vehicle permit required
  • May-September, NRD staff test water at the swimming beach for presence of toxic algae; test results are available on the Nebraska Department of Environment & Energy's website, this website, and social media. Tests above 8 ppb require a health alert in effect until the water tests below this limit.
  • No hunting or possession of firearms allowed
  • Fireworks are not allowed.
