5 miles north, 1 mile west of Tecumseh, Nebraska, in Johnson County

Opened in 1996 as part of the South Branch Watershed flood control project, this 89-acre park is five miles north and 1 mile west of Tecumseh, Nebraska, in Johnson County. This park was named for brothers John, Paul, & Anton Wirth from Nebraska City who donated their land and many of the improvements for use as a public recreation area.

NOTICE: The boat dock and ramp are underwater as of May 24 and may be inaccessible all weekend. Please avoid boating, kayaking, or swimming since it's difficult to see what's hiding underwater. See front page article for more info.

Things You Should Know

  • NNRD vehicle permit required
  • May-September, NRD staff test water at the beach and boat dock for presence of toxic algae; test results are available on the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality’s website; tests above 20 ppm require a minimum two-week health alert (notice is available by recorded message 24/7 at 402-335-3325, on our Facebook page, or on this website)
  • No hunting or possession of firearms allowed
