NCF (National Conservation Foundation) Envirothon is North America’s premier high school environmental-education competition—an annual event where winning provincial teams from Canada and states from the U.S., along with participating countries like China and Singapore, compete in field tests and oral presentations on ecological topics 

July 20–26, 2025, at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta 

Teams of 5 high-school students (grades 9–12), each with an advisor, representing their home provinces or states .

Participants tackle five hands‑on field station tests—Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Soils & Land Use, Wildlife, and the annual “Current Issue”—followed by an oral presentation judged by experts 

**2025 Current Issue theme**:
“Roots and Resiliency: Fostering Forest Stewardship in a Canopy of Change”
Focuses on understanding how Alberta’s forests (covering ~60 % of the province) are affected by climate change and how to incorporate traditional Indigenous stewardship and scientific innovation to build resilient ecosystems
