Conservation Tree Program

The Nemaha NRD provides trees and shrubs for conservation purposes, including windbreaks, shelterbelts, wildlife habitat, firewood, and Christmas trees.
Orders are accepted starting November 1st each year.
A planting service is available for orders of 200 trees or more — contact the NRD to schedule a planting plan.

Cost-share assistance may be available for qualified plantings of 200+ trees, please contact our office for details. 

Eligibility: You must reside in or own property within the Nemaha NRD boundaries to place an order.

2026 Deadlines (Now Closed)

NRD Machine Planted Seedlings: December 31, 2025
*Your ground must be fall-prepared if it is currently in sod.
Contact the NRD office to prepare a planting plan and place your order.

Landowner Self-Planted Seedlings: March 13, 2026
Order early to ensure your preferred species are available.

Ordering Information

Seedlings are sold in bundles of 25 per species.
NRD Machine Planting: Minimum order of 200 trees required. Contact the office prior to December 31 to prepare a plan and place your order.
Payment: All charges are due in advance.
Availability: Quantities may be limited; trees are not guaranteed. Trees are not reserved until payment is received.
