Duck Creek Recreation Area

Second-grade students will join the Nemaha NRD at Duck Creek Recreation Area for a hands-on tree planting experience. Students will learn about the importance of trees, their benefits to the environment, and how to properly plant and care for them.

As part of the Trees for Nebraska Towns Initiative, the Nemaha NRD received 10 trees to support this educational planting project. The initiative is a program of PlantNebraska and the Nebraska Forest Service that provides high-quality trees for community projects, celebrations, and, educational events that promote the importance of trees and healthy community forests.

The benefits of trees go beyond shade and beauty. Trees can improve comfort, support better health, provide energy savings, and offer a wide range of environmental and community benefits. Planting a variety of trees also helps build more resilient community forests.

Students will have the opportunity to get outside, learn about trees and natural resources while helping to add trees to Duck Creek Recreation Area.

Media are welcome to attend.
